Hunan Pork Recipe

One of the oldest examples of Hunan cuisine, this delicious pork stir-fry is very easy to make with a few simple and fresh ingredients. Makes a great and quick addition to any meal!

Ingredients

  • 500 g Pork belly
  • 5 Hangzhou peppers use generic chili peppers if you can not find Hangzhou peppers
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 spring onion You can use green onions instead
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 tsp steamed fish oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Meat Marinade:

Instructions

  •  Wash and pat dry the pork belly, cut into thin slices.
  • The meat is put into a bowl with cooking wine, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, salt and marinade for 10 minutes.
  • Hangzhou pepper is washed and cut on a bias into large pieces.
  • Slice the spring onion, garlic cut into small pieces, green onions are cut into small sections.
  • Heat up the wok and add the peppers in to slightly stir-fry (without oil)
  • Pour the oil in the pan. When the oil is almost at full temperature, add the pork belly and stir-fry.
  • Stir fry until the meat begins to curl. Add the peppers, spring onion and toss together.
  • Add 1 tsp of steamed fish oyster sauce and continue to stir fry.
  • Add minced garlic, chopped green onions, a little sesame oil, stir fry and toss together.
